I trained and worked as a Mathematics teacher in Secondary schools for some years where I developed a passion for working with students to bring out the best in them, both mathematically and personally.

Moving out of teaching I went on to open three small businesses. First a sandwich shop, which in 1987 was still a novelty! Employing staff from the outset and with no previous experience in running a business this was a steep learning curve. Whilst running this sandwich shop I became a mother of three children and whilst they were still very young I went on to open a coffee bar and then a 2nd with the help of my husband. During this time we also jointly developed a property portfolio.

Selling the sandwich shop and coffee bars was largely a decision to restore some work/life balance (although I hadn’t heard of this term at the time!) and the decision to train in coaching came after a short break in which I was able to ‘draw breath’!

My coaching practice was established in 2006 and now I enjoy working with small business owners to provide the opportunity to stand back and consider their decisions in the context of their goals and values. Having transitioned through a number of careers, I also enjoy working with people to identify their skills and strengths, their values and motivations and empowering them to make considered choices confidently.

As a practicing coach I am committed to continuous professional development and subscribe to the ICF Code Of Ethics. I have undertaken training in Solutions Focus coaching and Enterprise Mentoring in addition to ongoing ICF accreditation requirements and various coaching related trainings.

The development of Inspired Solutions Mastermind Groups, focus and support groups for small business owners, has been inspired by my experience of being a small business owner; my recognition of the isolation and the challenges; and my passion to empower people to perform at their best.

From 2008 to 2011 I jointly organised the Bristol and Bath Coaching Group, a support group for professionals involved in coaching. Continual professional development and business development is promoted from within the group and through the expertise of outside speakers.

I co-founded the Bristol Coaching Approach www.bristolcoachingapproach.com working with associates to take coaching out to people in an informal environment. Providing a number of talks on ‘personal and professional success’ in a comfortable cafe environment, BCA aims to create a better understanding of the potential of coaching and make coaching more accessible.

“My training in education and my experience in running businesses, together with my role as a working Mum, allow me an empathic and realistic approach to my clients’ issues. Accepting you for who you are, I bring a belief that you are more resourceful than you recognise and a commitment to helping you be the best you can be.”
